DIY Hot Chocolate Snowman - Blogmas Day 7

Hello loves <3

Today is going to be my first DIY post! I've made an adorable snowman/hot chocolate 'kit' using mason jars and I'm going to show you how to make one! This is such a cute gift to give to anyone really, or just to have in your kitchen to use when you want to cozy up by the fire with a nice warm chocolatey drink and a book or movie. <3

*I got this idea from Meredith and Ann Le on YouTube (click on their names to check out their channels!)*

Materials You Will Need:
  • 3 mason jars of your choice (I recommend mini ones) - Michaels $ each
  • Black, orange, and your favorite color felt (I ended up not using the brown) - Michaels $.29 each
  • Hot Chocolate of your choice - Harris Teeter
  • Starlight mints - Walgreens
  • Marshmallows (I went with big ones but I recommend minis if you're using mini mason jars like I did :/ I'll probably switch them out) - Walgreens
  • Peppermint stirrers or candy canes (for arms) - Dollar Tree
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun

Step 1: Fill each jar with either hot cocoa, marshmallows, or peppermints. I used two hot chocolate packets for the middle jar.

Step 2: Hot glue the rims of the bottom two jars to the ones above them. Meaning, put glue on the twisty part of the cap so you can unscrew the jars and still be able to access the cap. I recommend using marshmallows for the top jar because they are white like snow so it'll look more like a snowman's face.

Step 3: Cut out one long strip, two large circles (only one pictured), and two small circles of black felt, one small triangle out of orange felt, and three buttons and two mittens out of the color of your choice.

Step 4: Glue one of the large, black circles to the top jar. Fold the black strip into a roll by making the two ends meet and glue ends together. Glue the roll onto the circle on top of the jar and glue the second large circle on top of the rolled up strip to top off the hat; sorry if that was confusing ;) You'll see in the final picture.

Step 5: Glue the two small, black circles on the side of the top jar to look like eyes and the orange triangle below them to look like a nose. On the middle jar, glue your three circles of choice color to look like buttons.

Step 6: Break one of your peppermint stirrers or candy canes into two equal pieces for arms and glue one to either side of the middle jar. Take your two mittens and glue on each of the sticks.

Voila! You've got your own super cute hot chocolate snowman! This DIY is super easy, quite quick, and looks so festive either in your kitchen, bedroom, anywhere you put it. (Oh, and is definitely yummy!)

If any of you make/have made a hot chocolate snowman be sure to send me pictures because I'd love, love, love to see them! Maybe leave a comment with your blog link if you've uploaded a picture to your blog, if you have one.

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Favorite Winter Nail Polishes - Blogmas Day 6

Hello loves <3

Ever since last year, I think, I've really been liking painting my nails and doing nail art. I'm not so much into designs anymore but I still love painting my nails. I thought to show you my staple winter polishes!

  • Champagne Kisses - China Glaze: This is probably my all time favorite polish. I can wear it any day, any season. It's a beautiful metallic bronzy glitter that can work as an accent nail as well!

  • Baby Blue - Forever 21 & Cinderella - Sinful Colors: Both these blues remind me of winter and snow. The Forever 21 polish has a very good opacity and the Sinful Colors polish has some iridescent shimmer that you can sort of see in the picture. Both are very simple colors yet catch peoples' eyes!

  • I Don't Drink Cheap Wine - Spoiled: Don't you just love the name of this one? ;) It is a beautiful plum color. I associate maroon/burgundy and plummy colors with fall and winter and this really deep purple falls under that category!

  • Red Red - Wet n' Wild, Wild Shine- Every girl needs a staple red polish in her collection and this is mine. It is so rich and opaque in just one coat! It is inexpensive as well and definitely works for the holidays!

Those are my favorite polishes to wear during winter, what are yours let me know in the comments! And I'm looking for a taupe-ish grey, anyone have any they recommend?

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Favorite Holiday Music - Blogmas Day 5

Hello loves <3

A big part of my life is music, and holiday music can cheer me up any day! There's something about the melody of holiday songs that just makes me smile from ear to ear. Does it have the same effect on anyone else? ;)

My two all time favorite Christmas/holiday songs are both classics:
  • Last Christmas by Wham
  • Carol of the Bells; especially the version done by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Last Christmas has been an all time fav for years upon years. I remember hearing my mom singing it and the tune just stuck with me and I became obsessed. Carol of the Bells on the other hand, I am taking a dance class right now and we are doing a unit on modern dance. This is the song we are dancing to (Trans-Siberian Orchestra version) and every time my teacher plays it I feel so refreshed and excited! As the music gets louder, I get more hyped, lol. What are your favorite Christmas/holiday songs? Tell me below!

     Happy Friday!
Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Wish List - Blogmas Day 4

Hello loves <3

Holiday gift lists are different for everyone. Some ask for one small gift, others a craft or gift from the heart, and others' lists are long enough to start at the north pole and reach the south (haha), the list goes on.

I thought to show you what I want for Hanukkah this year! I really don't want much, but I'll tell you anyways :P Make sure to leave a comment down below with what you want for the holidays this year!

1. Tyler Oakley's ' I Can't Stop Watching YouTubers' sweatshirt. I have really wanted this because it basically sums up my life (: And the black one is gorgeous!

2. Purse/Handbag. I am really bad with keeping track of my wallet so I'd really like to invest in a handbag. My heart is set on a black leather backpack with tan detailing from Macy's by Nine West but I can't find it anywhere :( soo my mom and I have been looking at some Michael Kor's backpacks; the picture below is the one I'd really like.
sorry about the numbers at the top!

3. Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette. Out of the three Naked palettes, I favorite number two. I think the neutral colors will create such gorgeous eye looks! Do any of you have one or more of the Naked palettes? Tell me in the comments!

4. Beanies. I love beanies! During the colder months they keep your ears snug and I have a bobble hat from Forever 21 that I wear as a beanie and I love it! I also have one from NYC & Company. It's grey with some sparkles sewn in and is gorgeous! Matching beanies to your scarf or top is one of my favorite ways to style outfits! How cute is this one?!

That's all I'd like for Hanukkah this year! Again, make sure to tell me what you'd like this year!

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Family Time - Blogmas Day 3

Hello loves <3

One of the most important aspects of the holiday season is family and appreciating and spending time with the ones we love. My youngest sister slept in my bed last night and laying next to her holding her tiny, warm hand (in the most non-stalkerish, but loving sisterly way possible), I realized how blessed I truly am to have such a caring family - and that's when I thought of this blog post idea.

The holiday season is all about giving and spending time with one another. Taking a break from the pressure of school, work, or an other cause of stress and instead focusing on getting comfortable under a festive holiday throw and watching ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas!

Whether you're gathering by the fireplace with some hot cocoa, kneeling by the glittering tree handing each other beautifully wrapped gifts, holding eachother's hands as you light the menorah and its colorful candles, or anything else TOGETHER, cherish it.

One day you'll be all grown up, living in your own apartment with your own pet :), independent, maybe away from your family. So don't take the time you have with them for granted, because it won't last forever.

p.s. If you'd like to be featured in my holiday Q&A, leave me some questions on any of my blog posts! I'll accept questions for about a week and then one of my Blogmas posts will be a question and answer! And I'll be sure to link your blog when I include your question(s)!

Winter Essentials - Blogmas Day 2

Hello loves <3

There are loads of things that I love, love, love and need to have during the winter! So, I thought I'd share them with you! (Make sure to leave your winter essentials in a comment below!)

1. Candles! During fall and winter, candles are a definite essential! They light up your room and fill it with a wonderful fragrance. Bath & Body Works always has the best holiday scents. This year I've discovered Merry Cookie which smells heavenly! I also really love Pumpkin Caramel Latte and Spiced Cider even though they are more autumnal.

2. Flannel/Infinity Scarves! On Black Friday, as I mentioned in a previous post ('Family Day!'), I went to Charlotte Russe and got a bunch of new clothes. Scarves were buy one get one freeeee! So, I got 4 :P Two of which are infinity scarves, the other two normal but super soft and comfortable nonetheless. I also have a lovely pink and blue flannel type scarf from Abercrombie that I love to put on top of a white t-shirt or sweater because it makes a simple outfit look even more amazing!

soz :/ I didn't have a picture so this one's a bit crappy

3. Flannels! There isn't a real need for words for flannels. They are just perfect whether they're tied around your waist or just overtop a tank top! I got some from Charlotte Russe as well ;) I actually wore the blue and peach one today!

4. Throws, throws, throws! I love holiday/winter throw pillows and blankets because they just spice up your room and add some pizzazz so easily!

5. Hand warmers! These are great whenever you're outside and freezing your butt off. You can put them in your pockets or hold them in your hands and they warm you up and make you feel all tingly inside :) They are especially good if it's snowing because you never know when you'll fall off your sled and get a bunch of snow in places you don't want it...

6. Moisturizer! During the winter my skin may get quite dry so moisturizer is a life saver! My dermatologist recommended Aveeno's Positively Radiant!

7. Finally, HOT CHOCOLATE WITH WHIPPED CREAM AND MARSHMALLOWS. No words.
chummy and I's lovely hot chocolates...mmmm...

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

The Holiday Scene - Blogmas Day 1

Hello loves <3

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF DECEMBER!!! I can't believe the holiday season is finally here! I have so many fun post ideas for Blogmas! Today, I'm going to be writing about something I like to call, 'The Holiday Scene!'

That tingly feeling you get when the neighbor's Christmas lights turn on. That sharp intake of cool breath when you go onto your doorstep. That obsession and constant replay of Michael BublĂ©'s Christmas album. That is the holiday scene.

Seeing the oranges, yellows, and reds of the trees slowly diminishing, being replaced with blankets of white. That is the holiday scene.

The *crunch* of your new boots on the frosty grass. The puff of cold air that is your breath, floating in front of you. That is the holiday scene. My holiday scene. What's yours? (tell me in the comments!!)

*computer hug*

p.s. Blogmas posts may be a bit shorter compared to other posts as school and after school activities have to be taken into consideration. xx
