Blogmas! (I Need YOUR Help!)

As December is right around the corner, many bloggers are planning to participate in Blogmas! I don't celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah actually. But I was thinking of still doing holiday themed blog posts, and on the 8 days of Hanukkah write about what it is and different things about Jewish culture. What do you think? Comment below!

Hanukkah this year (the date varies every year) is from December 16 to the 24th, Chistmas Eve. Some years it's no where near Christmas, so I'm really excited! Last year part of Hanukkah fell during November ;/

Blogmas, if you didn't know, is blogging everyday in December. I know some people blog until Christmas day, but I think i'll do the former. On YouTube, some participate in Vlogmas - vlogging every day in December or until Christmas Day. I'm really looking forward to Zoe, Alfie, Tanya, Jim, Marcus, and Ingrid's Vlogmas! If you know of any other YouTubers participating in Vlogmas leave them in a comment! Same goes for any bloggers you know that are taking part in Blogmas!

As for the things I'll be writing during Blogmas, I need suggestions/requests! 31+ posts back to back is probably going to be a challenge, especially with school and things, so I'll need a plan. Please please please leave anything you have in mind below!

     So far I'm thinking:

  • a little bit about what Hanukkah is
  • foods we eat during Hanukkah
  • holiday decor (how my family decorates for the holidays)
  • this year's wish list
  • holiday gift ideas/crafts (last minute and general)
  • yummy holiday treats
  • new year resolutions (should I post that on 12/31 or 1/1?)

Those are the ideas I have so far. If you have any idea, suggestion, anything at all please please tell me below! I love to read through comments. It brightens up my day knowing even just one person has read what I've created.

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Family Day!

Hello loves <3

We have been in Virginia visiting friends for Thanksgiving break the past couple days; we'll be back home tomorrow evening. Today we decided on bowling! We haven't been out of the house since we got here. Honestly, I wasn't really in the mood for this, (my attitude definitely showed it :/ ) but I ended up having a lot of fun!! We rented two lanes, one for adults and one for kids. Guess which one I was on.. Anyway, in the first game I won with 94 points, whoop whoop! The second game I also won with 103 points! My competition wasn't that tough plus we had those bars put in on the side of the lane so the ball had to hit a pin, lol.

Oh, and my youngest sister accidentally rolled a ball into someone else's lane during the first game... whoops.

There was also an arcade at the bowling alley so my sisters, our friends' son and I played some games while we waited for our lanes. You know those arcade games that you know you won't win but you just keep playing because they're addicting? Well, I fell into the trap. One of them was a wheel you spun and would receive tickets no matter what, the range being 5-1000. Of course, the first couple times i got 5. And this game wastes a lot of your credits! I ended up getting 75 at one point, though! In the end, my sister and I combined tickets. We both got mood necklaces and she got some additional little sweets.

Mm-mm we had lunch there, too. You have to treat yourself to some greasy goodness once in a while!

After a couple of hours filled with strikes, spares, and splits, we broke off - my mom, her friend and I headed off to the mall while the others went back home. As it is Black Friday we had to, had to, had to go shopping ;) My family isn't one to stay overnight at a mall and camp out in the parking lot so we weren't there during the big rush. But, there are still good deals at 5 pm (laughy emoji)! I might've splurged a bit in Charlotte Russe. Well actually my mom bought everything so thank you, thank you mom! I got quite a bit so if you'd like to see everything I'd love to write a post about it! Leave a comment below!

Next year, I want to do the exact opposite of this year and camp out late at night with a bunch of friends! Have any of you done something like that on Black Friday? Let me know below!!

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Hello loves <3

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you guys in the United States or Canada or anyone, anywhere else celebrating is having a lovely time.

I am stuffed. Let me just put it out there that this year, we didn't have turkey, stuffing, cranberries, or anything pumpkin related - insert laughy emoji here. I know, not a very traditional Thanksgiving meal. But! There was no turkey at the first Thanksgiving feast, was there? lol. Anyway, the food we did have was hands down absolutely delicious! Thank you to my mama and her talented friend and husband for cooking up such an exquisite meal!

So, as it is the day to be thankful (not that we shouldn't be thankful every other day of the year) I am going to list 3 things that I am thankful for - just like Penny from Girl Online listing her new years resolutions <3:

  1. Right off the bat, my family. Thank you for being there always, and for caring for me and making sure I have everything I need, and sometimes things I want because I am just so needy. Thank you to my parents for always steering me in the right direction and thank you to my sisters for always making me laugh (even though sometimes I want to pull my hair out because of how annoying you may get).
  2. YouTube. I guarantee that sometime in the future I will do a blog post all about YouTube and how it has changed my life. No, I don't have a channel, but I do subscribe to quite the lot. Thank you to Troye, to Zoe, to Hannah, Louise, Tanya, Marcus, Alfie, Caspar, Jim, Joe, Jenna, Niomi, Ingrid, Colleen, Tyler, Miranda, Joey, Connor, Kian, Sam, Gabby, Grace, JC, Ricky, Trevor, Dan, Phil, Anthony, Bethany, Jack, Lily among about 100 others for making me smile everyday. Whether that is through a game of Outlast and a couple jump scares, a daily vlog where Pippin and Percy are being as cute as ever, or even a video on the different types of texters, you are ALWAYS there, and I thank you for that.
  3. Lastly, my beautiful, unique friends. I am not going to name any in this post but you know who you are, if you're reading this. I actually haven't told them about this. It'd be funny if they found it on their own...We've created so many special, unforgettable memories that will stay with me as long as I live. Thanks for helping me through tough times, picking me up when I'm down, and putting up with me (even when my sassy attitude takes over).
I encourage you to leave a comment down below with the things YOU are thankful for. Whether that is 1 thing, 2, 10, or 100. Whether that is your family, dog, favorite book, please do tell! I'll read all of them <3

Thank YOU for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

When You Feel Overwhelmed

Hello, to anyone reading! This blog post, as you can probably tell from the title, is about being overwhelmed. I get this feeling often. It is usually sparked because of school or friend drama :( neither of which are very fun.

Sometimes I just want to leave the world and enter a whole other universe where I can just think to myself and be alone. Yeah, being alone may not be some people's way of solving problems but for someone who can't talk it out, being in a whole new world is perfect.

Am I the only one? Does anyone else feel like they just need to get away sometimes? Like you just want to block out any issues or problems and pretend they never happened?

As I said before, a lot of the time this overwhelmed feeling comes from school. As you grow, school becomes more difficult. You find yourself (at least I do) not having much time to do what you want because of the constant need to balance out homework, projects and studying.

But I have learned that when I suddenly get this huge wave of overwhelmingness (is that a word?!) I just need to breathe, relax, and leave. Leave the current situation. I'll go to my room and just lay on my bed for a couple minutes - maybe even squeeze in a cheeky 5 minute nap. I think through it all. What do I have to do? What do I need to get done? And then I plan.

I love to organize things, it's just fun for me to see everything neat and tidy, you know? So creating a quick plan of everything that needs to be accomplished really helps me. Writing down what is due and when, what subjects I have the most homework in, etc. Then I have a physical tool to use.

And this pertains to not only schoolwork. Taking a break from reality is so helpful when you feel a tidal wave of emotion has engulfed you - wow, nice figurative lingo there.

Friend drama, a totally different story. Sorry to be flipping the switch on you so quick, I just want to get this in here. I have dealt with many arguments and fights between friends. Sometimes I feel like I want to throw my phone away because I am tired of the drama (I usually text through arguments. I know, I know, real bad communication skills, but I can not talk through it without my mouth becoming mute). I feel like these situations are what help us find our true friends. Maybe I'll make a whole blog post on friends because it is a HUGE and ENDLESS subject. I won't get too much into it in this one.

That is my small spiel on being overwhelmed and one of the things I like to do when the feeling creeps up on me. Thank you for reading, and I'll talk to you again soon.

Expression

I find it funny how it has taken me 40 minutes just to customize the template, choose the text colors, and search endlessly for a picture that was at least 1800x1600 to fit the background and still incorporated something about me - I ended up choosing one of the pictures already on this website.

. . .

Hi. I love writing, I love to express myself through writing. But sometimes, I just can't. I can't. It's hard to get the words out, especially if I am talking to someone. It's hard to pin point exactly what I am feeling. I try to get it all out, but sometimes - a lot of the time - it's difficult. Whenever I'm talking to someone about how I feel, I freeze and all I can say is 'I don't know.' Because that's the truth, I don't know how I feel. But that is just part of being a teen: unanswered questions and sucky thoughts.

My copy of Zoe Sugg's Girl Online arrived in the mail today and I am completely hooked. First, let me just say I am tremendously proud of Zoe and this book is an absolute success! (Zoe's blog) Anyway, I've read almost 100 pages and this novel is so great! The main character, Penny, leads an anonymous blog where she has been creating posts about things going on her life. I've tried diaries, which never work out. I've also previously had 2 blogs (those didn't work out either :/ ). But every time Penny goes to write in her blog, I am inspired. Zoe started off as a blogger and has grown so much.

I want to be able to express myself. My goal is to become a writer or journalist. I've found that words may just flow out onto the paper and I don't even have to think about it and other times I am sat staring at a blank piece of paper with a bunch of lines glaring at me. That is why I've created this blog: to have a place where my words can flow. That is why it has such a simple name, Writing, because that's what it is. When I have a problem, I want to write it down. When I have a story idea, I want to write it down. When I have something, anything to express, I want to write it down.

So thank you for reading this - if you've read this far :) And I hope to write again soon.
