Happy New Year - Hello 2015!

Hello loves <3

Where I live, it is still December 31, but I know in other places you might be welcoming 2015 before I, so Happy New Year! 2014 went by in a flash, just like December! Do you guys think this year went by quickly or the opposite? It was literally just yesterday that I was sitting with my baby sister watching the ball drop, counting down to 2014!

So many AMAZING things happened in 2014, and I'd love to share with you. And I encourage you to do so too, in the comment section!

~ YouTube! Yes, I got into YouTube in 2013 but this year was definitely when my obsession deepened and increased ;) I subscribe to over 100 people now and I love each and every one of them. Even though I haven't met them personally, I feel like we're connected in some way, maybe some of you can relate?

~ Writing! This blog, duh! I haven't owned (? is that what you'd say? owned? lol) this blog for long, a little more than a month but I have loved each and every minute of it. I read every comment, notice every view, which half probably are me ;) and I appreciate and love all of you! Thank you for such an amazing experience. I did not expect anything like this! More than 600 views in a month?! You have no idea how much it means to me that you are reading this right now. Whether you've read every single one of my posts or just this one, thank you. I know this is probably the cheesiest paragraph, but I mean every word from the bottom of my heart <3

~ Beach Trip! My best friends and I took a spontaneous two night trip to the beach right before school started! It was the best time of my life. We spent more than 48 hours in each other's company and it could not have been better. From listening to a relax app in the car to holding up knives in front of a butcher's shop sign, we've stuck together and been through it all. I love you guys.

~ Finding My 'Sense of Style'! This year, definitely with the help of YouTube and getting into reading magazines and fashion and makeup and stuff, I have found my own sense of style. I used to wear sparkles and glitter and super bright, fun colors. Which, don't get me wrong, I still do and love. But now, I've started to shop for different types of clothes and I've started to experiment with makeup. This year I truly found what makes my style unique to me.

Those, of course, are just a couple of the astonishing things that happened in this adventurous year. There are loads of little things we probably don't remember and that saddens me some because I want to make and keep all these wonderful memories.

Now, New Year Resolutions. I have heard loads of people say that they don't believe in resolutions, rather they create goals for themselves that they wish to achieve, and I'm not 'against' either ideas. So here are are my "plans," is what I'll call them, for 2015.

* Say thank you more. I recently watched a video on the Fine Bro's channel called Teens React to Thank You Project (You can watch it here). I won't explain it so you can find out when you watch it but basically it taught me that so many people do so many great things and we don't think to thank them. Yes, I say thank you if I buy something from the cafeteria and if someone holds the door open, but I want to say thank you more.

* Stop worrying. I am a worrier. That's just who I am, lol. I worry a lot. Whether that's about my weight, which I really shouldn't bother worrying about, some drama with friends, getting anxious or nervous about future events, I want to dial it down. Sometimes it takes over and all I can think about is whatever I'm worrying about and I don't want that to happen, I won't let it! If there's anything controlling you, don't let it! You have the power to control yourself.

* Expand this blog. This blog has become such an amazing part of my life, and I am so grateful for that, so I am going to continue and continue to do better and improve my writing.

So, for one last time in 2014, thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon. Hello 2015!

What I Got for Hanukkah 2014!

Hello loves <3

It's only been 3 days since I last posted, but it feels like forever! Probably because of the 25 posts back to back, haha. Let me just say, the purpose of this post is in no way to brag about what I received or anything like that! I just thought to show you guys and maybe if you see something you like, you can put it on your 2015 wish list ;)

I'm just gonna talk about a few favorites <3

From the beauty type products 'category' I got some super sweet goodies. I've been looking for a new dry shampoo and one of my best friends got me one from Victoria's Secret and it smells heavenly. I also got a new facial wash and makeup wipes which I have been using constantly lately and they've definitely been helping my skin - Neutrogena's Fresh Foaming Cleanser and Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. Urban Decay's Naked 3 Palette! All 12 colors in this palette are so well pigmented and absolutely stunning, Liar, Nooner, and Mugshot especially.

Candles deserve their own category :) All 5 of these smell delicious! Japanese Cherry Blossom and Pumpkin Gingerbread are both from Bath & Body Works. They fill my room with such a lovely fragrance that wafts throughout my home. I'm not too sure what the candle farthest to the right is called, but it's a very tropical, sweet scent. The other two are from luminessence - gingerbread and cinnamon stick. They both are such warm and wintery scents.

I got this gorgeous taupe/nude colored vest with a fur rimmed hood from the brand 'American Rag.' I've loved wearing it on top of flannels. The beautiful purple scarf is so soft and plush; it can be worn two ways - scarf and turban, both of which are wonderful. Finally, gloves! But not just any gloves, touch-screen gloves that can be used on your phone! Both of the ones in the picture are touch-screen which is super cool! I also got some fuzzy socks, of course!!

I also got some yummy treats! Chocolate dipped pretzels, chocolate coins, hot chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate uh-oh! I'm also a big fan of tea! And I don't know if you can see in the first picture, but there is a green striped mug in the back with a man hanging from the rim. Another one of my amazing friends got me that mug and the little man called Mr. Tea. You put your tea inside his pants and he sits on your cup flavoring the water. So cool! My parents also got me a beautiful glass tea pot and diffuser which will definitely come in handy as I've recently been wanting to try new flavors!

Thank you to all those who got me these glorious presents! I love and appreciate each and every one. I was definitely spoiled this year ;) So, thank you for bring such great people, I love you.

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

December's Almost Over?! - Blogmas Day 24

Hello loves <3

I know I said this yesterday, but honestly, this month went by in a flash! It was just yesterday we were sitting around a table sharing what we were thankful for!

For most of you, tonight is Christmas Eve. So, Merry Christmas Eve! Please leave as many comments as you'd like telling me any Christmas Eve and Christmas Day traditions you have. I'd love to know!

I will be doing my "What I Got for Hanukkah" post probably Friday, the 26. If you guys do a post on what you guys got for the holidays, be sure to tell me!

Anyway, I'd like to sign off by recalling my favorite things about December so far this year, and I encourage you to do so as well! I loved the sudden change from crisp air to cold air; I loved the transition in candle scents from pumpkins and cider to gingerbread and holly; I loved making gingerbread houses with my sisters; I loved seeing my friends' reactions as they opened their gifts; I loved being able to discover more blogs and expand my own!

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Happy Hanukkah! - Blogmas Day 23

Hello loves <3

Sadly, Hanukkah has almost come to an end. I've had the best holiday ever. December has gone by so fast! We ate homemade doughnuts and latkes, lit candles each night, sang and prayed, and most importantly, spent time with family and truly appreciated what we have.

I got to enjoy quality time with my family; we set up the lights outside and decorated inside. I got to come together with my community and rediscover the true meaning of Hanukkah.

I'd like to thank my family and friends for making everyday as bright as the candles lit on the menorah.

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

DIY Santa's Sleigh Treat! - Blogmas Day 22

Hello loves <3

Another DIY! I have to give creds to my best friend, who I also call Chummy, for this idea as this was one of my gifts from her. So today I'm showing you how to make Santa's sleigh out of chocolates and candy!

like my pj's and socks? ;)
Materials You Will Need:
  • 2 big candy canes
  • Mini santa chocolate
  • Hershey's candy cane chocolate bar, or any full size bar
  • Hershey's peppermint bark bells, or any small chocolates
  • Swiss Miss hot cocoa packet, or any packet of your choice
  • ribbon
  • small plastic bag
  • hot glue or tape

Step 1: Glue or tape hot chocolate packet to chocolate bar. For me, Chummy chose Swiss Miss Caramel Cream Hot Cocoa Mix which sounds so so yummy!

Step 2: Glue or tape both candy canes to the underneath of the chocolate bar

Step 3: Glue or tape - glue works better for this - the santa towards the front of the sleigh, near the curved part of the candy canes.

Step 4: Gather your small chocolates, Chummy used Hershey's Peppermint Bark Bells, which, by the way are delish! And either wrap them in the plastic and tie off with the ribbon, or seal them in the small plastic bag.

Step 5: Glue to the back of the sleigh/hot chocolate packet to look like Santa's sack of presents!

And you're done! This is one of the cutest things I've ever received and I don't want to take it apart but the caramel hot chocolate sounds super good, not to mention the candy cane Hershey's bar! So, thank you Chummy!

If you decide to make this, be sure to let me know with a comment with a link to a picture or the link to a blog post if you write one about it!

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Gifts $10 and Under - Blogmas Day 21

Hello loves <3

It's only 4 days till Christmas and maybe, just maybe, some of you cheeky people haven't bought presents yet! Or maybe you're on a budget. No need to worry, I am here to help. Without further ado, here are some gifts for under $10!

1. Chocolate! You can never go wrong with a chocolate bar or two! Ghirardelli chocolate variety packs are around $3.50 and they come with different flavors so whoever you're giving it to can try whichever they'd like! The actual Ghirardelli chocolate bars are just $2.24! If whoever you're shopping for is not a big fan of Ghirardelli, there's Hershey's, KitKats, Snickers, Twix, Three Musketeers, and loads more for under $1! How much better can it get? Whatever type you get, I bet the person you're shopping for will love what ever type of chocolate it is, unless they don't like chocolate :/ In that case, candy!

2. Makeup brushes! You can find Real Techniques brushes anywhere! If you know a makeup fanatic, this is definitely the way to go! The 'Expert Face Brush,' which I've heard so many great reviews about, is $6.49; the 'Blush Brush' is $7.19; the 'Powder Brush' is $7.99. They have such wide range for great prices! I have the 'Lash and Brow Groomer' (only $3.19) and I use it every day, it's so handy!

3. Nail polish! There are so many high-quality brands for under $10, $5 as well! I am a big fan of Sinful Colors. It is the brand I own the most of! They have such a wide range of colors for every season and they are $1.98!! Not very expensive so you may think they're crappy quality but they are absolutely amazing! If you'd like to buy a more high-end polish, Essie polishes are $8.47 and they are great for nail art! Here are some beautiful and festive reds for the holiday season from both of those brands:

Sugar Sugar
Up's

4. Mini mason jar candles! I am a big fan of mason jars and I'm a big fan of candles, so these are perfect for me, and maybe for whoever you're shopping for! At Bath & Body Works they have an endless range of candles. I personally really like the mini mason jar candles as they last a long time and look really cute anywhere you put them. They are $4.50, and are also sold in bigger sizes but those are $12.50 as they are larger and last longer. Here are some of the minis.

5. Lastly, socks! You can really never go wrong with socks... I just recently found some in Target that said "Bah Hum PUG" and I bought them for my friend as they reminded me of Zoe and Alfie's puppy, Nala :) They are regularly $5, but were half off! Fuzzy socks are especially great for winter as you don't want your footsies to get cold!

I hope this helped some of you if you're last minute shopping or on a budget! I know if I got any of these gifts I'd be so happy! If you have any other gift ideas under $10 put them in a comment!

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

  1. Favorite thing about winter? Watching movies by the fire when it's cold outside.
  2. Scarves or beanies? Um... both? That's a valid answer *smirks*
  3. Favorite holiday movie? HOME ALONE. Hands down.

  5. Favorite Starbucks drink? I don't get coffee too often but I love the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Their hot chocolates are also very tasty.

  7. Name one item on your wish list this year. A purse/handbag as I'm always misplacing my wallet!
  8. Favorite holiday song? Carol of the Bells.
  9. Did you go Black Friday shopping? Yes, but not at a crazy time, we went in the afternoon, haha.
  10. Must have winter lip product? Not very festive, but the Nivea Creamy Caramel Kiss lip butter as my lips tend to get super chapped this time of year.
  11. Will you be rocking an ugly Christmas sweater this year? Nope, I don't have one but I desperately want one! I know, I know, I celebrate Hanukkah but I think it'd be so cool!
  12. Have you ever had a white Christmas where you live? Yes a couple years ago, but it usually snows during late January/early February.
  13. Favorite winter candle scent? Merry Cookie, Winter Candy Apple, and Pumpkin Gingerbread. (all from Bath & Body Works)
  14. How will you be celebrating this holiday? At home with my family :)
If you do this tag, be sure to comment on this post with the link, I'd love to read your responses!

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Giving and Receiving - Blogmas Day 19

Hello loves <3

As promised yesterday, I am going to tell you what I got from our class gift exchange to start off today's post! So, about 20 of us participated and we got to pick a number out of a bag and that decided the order we would choose in. It's better to get higher numbers so you can steal other people's gifts, but guess what number I got! ONE. One. I got the number one. Great luck, right?!

Haha, anyway I didn't let it get to me because who cares?! I picked a box shaped gift wrapped in white paper and a lovely red string. It looked super festive and I really liked it. I opened it up to find a cardboard box which I opened using my mighty strength ;) Guess what was inside... poker chips and cards, lol. I wasn't the happiest girl in the world, but I wasn't gonna make a big deal so I decided I'd give them to my dad :) But, my teacher ended up stealing the cards so I got to pick another gift! In her words, "I looked heartbroken" :/ oops. I chose a smaller one this time and got chocolate coins! Which is perfect for Hanukkah! There was also a bag of wooden crafting letters...? I'm probably gonna use those for some sort of DIY , but I was kind of confused when I saw them, haha.

Okay that was pretty long, but that is what I got through the gift exchange! Oh! Those chocolate coins I got were white chocolate instead of the traditional milk which was cool, plus the tag said "by Sainsbury's!" Which I was kind of confused by because we don't have Sainsbury's in the U.S., but I thought I'd share that with you guys as I know some of you live in England :)

Anyway, giving and receiving! Which do you like better? This year I've spent a lot more time on presents than I ever have and I continuously find myself smiling as I'm buying and making gifts and thinking about the reaction the person I'm giving the gift to will have! Have you guys ever experienced that?

Receiving gifts is so much fun as well, of course! Getting to rip open wrapping paper (that the gift-giver probably spent a lot of their time on, haha) and letting your jaw drop as you realize what an amazing gift you got is the best feeling ever! But I feel like observing that as someone else opens a gift, a gift that you gave them, is even better! Because you are watching someone become happy, you get to keep that feeling of making someone happy, and that becomes a cherished memory.

In addition to this gift-giving subject, do you guys prefer giving gifts that you've made or bought? I feel like DIY's are categorized as 'gifts from the heart' as they usually take more time and thought. Although, bought gifts also require thought regarding what will match this person and what does this person really want. So both are really great options, in my opinion.

So which do you guys prefer? Giving or receiving? DIY gifts or bought gifts?

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Class Gift Exchange & School Winter Show - Blogmas Day 18

Hello loves <3

Today's Blogmas post is sort of just a little summary of my day, so hope that's ok!

Tomorrow my homeroom is doing a small gift exchange/winter party type thing. My teacher has a Christmas tree that she's gonna bring and we're gonna put all the presents under there and get to choose from them which is so cool, as I've never done that before!

Nobody from my school reads my blog, or so I think, so I'll tell you what I got. I'm bringing in a bag of limited addition Lindt Snowman white and milk chocolate truffles!! They are absolutely delicious and I LOVE them, haha. In tomorrow's post, I'll be sure to tell you what I get from the exchange! We started watching Good Luck Charlie Christmas today as well which was lovely <3

My parents bought all my teachers and some friends gifts and, me being the procrastinating, occasionally unprepared person I am, I am bringing them all tomorrow. I put a bunch of the smaller bags in the big ones so I got it down from having to carry 8 to 4; yay me (laughy emoji).

Also, tonight was my school winter concert type thing (I wish I'd gotten pictures :/). One of my best friends was in it so I went with some friends to support her. There were some technical difficulties and costume mishaps, but all in all it was an astonishing show and everyone did great! I loved all of the different costumes and songs. The only song I remember the name of is "Roots Before Branches" which is originally from the show Glee, I believe. Anyway, amazing job to everyone who performed!

     That's my day in a nutshell :)

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Community Menorah Lighting - Blogmas Day 17

Hello loves <3

Happy second night of Hanukkah! Our lovely community came together for a menorah lighting tonight. It was so fun! There were latkes (aka. potato pancakes) and jelly doughnuts which are both absolutely delicious!

Here is our Rabbi. He and his wife run the Hebrew school I volunteer at - Chabad Hebrew School. They are a really inspiring couple. They set up community events, dinners, and are able to manage a big bunch of kids every Sunday! Every year they hold a menorah lighting and usually it's in a mall, but this year it was in front of everyone, outside in the light of the moon and stars.

The set up was beautiful and when we all came together, said the prayers, and sang Maoz Tzur, it was heartwarming and filled me with a joy. Is there anything that is heartwarming to you and fills you with joy? Tell me below!

They also had hot chocolate and hot apple cider, which was amazing! I only tried the cider but people said the hot chocolate wasn't too good as it was 'burnt' and was made of soy milk :/ so I passed.

Next week starts winter break for me! My friends and I plan to get together and make holiday treats and things so if we do, I'll definitely write a Blogmas post about it! Gabby and Zoe's latest videos (holiday treats) made my mouth water so we definitely need to make those!!

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Happy First Night of Hanukkah! - Blogmas Day 16

Hello loves <3

Blogmas day 16! Or should I say Blognukkah day 16? No? K. Yeah it wasn't funny, hahaha.

Happy first night of Hanukkah! I came home to a bunch of festive bags, wrapping paper, and presents near the fire place :) We had put up a Happy Hanukkah banner on the wall and some blue and silver ornaments we got years ago on the mantle, just to spice up the living room. We lined the mantle with a bunch of dreidels, too!

On the menorah, you place candles from right and left, and light them from left to right using the Shamash - the center candle.

I love the candles we got this year; they're a blue and white ombré type. So instead of telling you what I got for Hanukkah each day, would you guys like a 'What I Got for Hanukkah 2014' blog post? I think that'd be better.

We also put up lights outside!

as you can see, my neighborhood is very festive.

especially my neighbors, lol.

Anyway, my mom is sick - I think she has the flu - so hopefully she'll get better soon and be able to celebrate with us :)

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Holiday Q&A - Blogmas Day 15

Hello loves <3

Today I am doing my first Q&A ever! And it's a holiday themed Q&A! I hadn't gotten too many questions, so this will be quite short, but hopefully next time I'll collect a lot more! Anyway, let's begin!

  1. What is your earliest holiday memory?
My earliest holiday memory is Hanukkah a couple years ago. I had broken my collar bone and the reason I remember this moment is I had used a picture of me in a cast/sling beside all my presents for a school assignment. I also remember getting a school kit for Hanukkah a couple years back. I was really into playing school with my sister and being a teacher so my mom bought my sister and I each a kit that came with a mini white board. markers, mini crayons and pencils, a grade book, paper, worksheets, maps, and loads more fun things. And now it's broken and I have no clue where it is, haha. But at the time, it was a dream.

      2.   Favorite holiday food?

Probably holiday cookies :) I recently got a snowman cookie from Starbucks and it was mm mm good, lol. (400 calories but a treat nonetheless) I ate the tummy and kept the head for another day. Partly because I didn't want to have it all in one go, but also because it's too cute to eat! If we're talking proper food, a traditional food to eat during Hanukkah are latkes! They are also known as potato pancakes and they are delicious!

      3.   What made you want to do Blogmas this year?

I only recently started my blog, it'll be a month on Christmas! But, I thought daily blogging/participating in Blogmas would help acquire an audience for my blog and it's amazing to know people are reading what I put out there and what I have to say. If you have a blog and are doing Blogmas, let me know in the comments why you decided to do it this year!

*Those three questions were submitted by the lovely Izzy, and you can find her blog here*

       4.   What do you think makes the perfect winter holiday?

I changed this question up a bit as it was originally the perfect Christmas, and I celebrate Hanukkah so I changed it to accustom everyone ;) I think spending time with family and/or the people you love, snuggling up and watching a festive movie together is just one thing that makes up the perfect winter holiday, whichever it is that you celebrate.

*That question was submitted by the wonderful Courtney, and you can find her blog here*

Thank you to the two amazingly talented bloggers who asked questions! I'd really like to get some more next time, so if you'd like to, feel free to comment anytime with any questions you have!

Tomorrow is the first night of Hanukkah! Maybe I'll write about/post pictures of some of the decorations we put up! Would you guys like that?

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Jobs and Making Money - Blogmas Day 14

Hello loves <3

If you read my blog post on giving back to your community, you'll know that I volunteer at my Sunday school every week to help children learn to read and write in Hebrew. Well, I was talking to my mom about it and how happy it makes me and that conversation led to a talk abut making money. I'm young, I have my whole life ahead of me, but it's never too early to start accomplishing things.

I am in a bit more advanced math class than my grade, and my mom suggested that I should put up a notice on our neighborhood's page saying that I can tutor children if they're in need of help. I am very hesitant about this because I don't want to come off like a selfish, cocky genius (and I hope I don't seem like it when I say that). My mom was talking about how when she was younger she had a tutor that had a line of people waiting for her to help them because she was so good, no one thought of her as self-centered, etc.

I would love to help people learn, even just one person, as a small job. I'm just kind of unsure of what I should do and if this tutoring thing is a good idea. What are your thoughts?

Also, do you know of any other ways of making money? Babysitting, petsitting, surveys, other than those?

I am too young to work at somewhere like a store so I really want to take on a smaller "job." So please, if you have any ideas, let me know!

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

*computer hug*

p.s. Holiday Q&A going up [hopefully] tomorrow! You can still comment questions! (please do!)

My Experience With No-Bake Treats - Blogmas Day 13

Hello loves <3

Yes, it is 11:38 pm but I am going to get this post in before December 14 no matter what!

No-bake treats are fun to create and should be pretty easy while still tasting great...well, not for me. Tonight was my third attempt at creating a dessert with out an oven and it did not work out too well. This time I tried cookies made out of graham crackers, sugar, butter, milk, and cocoa powder. All great ingredients, but put them in my hands and all the yumminess goes down the drain.

these aren't mine, but they sure do look better

I also tried making vanilla buttercream frosting again. Last time it turned out pretty much tasteless and this time it turned out to be chunky and too sweet :/ As you can tell, with talents like mine, baking is probably much easier.

Share with me any of your no-bake baking experiences. Do you have any recipe suggestions that don't require the oven?

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

Trivia Crack! - Blogmas Day 12

Hello loves <3

Today's post has really nothing to do with the holiday season, buuutttt...

So I'm jumping on the bandwagon and going to be telling you about my obsession with this game. Have any of you heard about Trivia Crack?

Basically it's a trivia game (duh) where you play against your friends. You spin a wheel and whatever it lands on is the subject of your question - Entertainment, Geography, History, Sports, Science, and Art. If you answer the question right you move on to another question and if you get it wrong, your opponent goes.

There's more to the game than that, but it's pretty easy to figure it out.

At first I thought that you lose a life each time you get a question wrong, but you only lose a life if you start a whole new game. Thank goodness as you start with 3 lives and receive 1 back every hour.

I don't know I just really like this game, lol. It gets to be quite the obsession so be warned :P

If you want to add/play me, my username is harel00!

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.

If You Had Three Wishes... - Blogmas Day 11

Hello loves <3

So if you had three wishes, what would they be? *And no wishing for more wishes* cheeky, cheeky...

     I would wish for:

  • Everyone to be healthy/no illnesses
  • No one to be homeless or starving
  • Equality among genders

So yes these wishes are quite global, but if I made smaller wishes I'd wish for:

  • Unlimited gift cards to favorite stores ;)
  • A full size ginger bread house that I can live in until I eat
  • An endless wardrobe
Quite the difference between those categories, haha.

If you had 3 wishes, what would you wish for?

Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you soon.
